For men who know something isn't right but aren't sure what, or who simply want a clear look at where they stand. A doctor listens, looks at the full picture and agrees sensible next steps with you.
Not just a single number on a page. Your consultation brings the pieces together so the plan fits you.
What's changed, when it started and how it's affecting your life.
Medical history, medication, family history, lifestyle and goals.
Your own recent results, or a comprehensive panel we arrange for you.
Clear priorities, treatment where appropriate, or referral if something needs a specialist.
A comprehensive metabolic and hormone profile, taken at an accredited laboratory near you: HbA1c, Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Cholesterol / HDL ratio, Triglycerides, Lipoprotein (a), High-sensitivity CRP, Testosterone, Free testosterone, SHBG, LH, Oestradiol, Prolactin, AST, Albumin, Creatinine, eGFR, Total PSA, Vitamin D.
For many men, the first sign of heart disease is a heart attack. Your consultation can focus squarely on prevention: your family history, cholesterol, blood pressure, lifestyle, and any results or scans you already have.
Where it's warranted, your doctor refers you for a coronary artery calcium (CAC) score, the most direct way to see whether plaque is already building in the arteries of your heart, or a CT coronary angiogram (CTCA) when a closer look is needed.
Cholesterol and blood pressure tell you about risk. A calcium score shows whether disease is actually there, and how much.
The score is most useful when your risk is borderline and the decision, such as whether to start a statin, could go either way. Your doctor explains what yours means for you.
A video consultation on your history, family history, results and goals.
Blood pressure and bloods, including ApoB and Lp(a) where useful.
We refer you to an imaging centre. Scan fees are paid to them directly, and you'll know the cost first.
Your doctor goes through the result and agrees a plan, then you re-measure to see it working.
One service, two ways in. The only difference is whether you bring suitable recent blood results or we arrange the testing for you.
About existing results. To use your own bloods, they need to be recent enough to reflect your current health and include the tests relevant to your concern. If they aren't suitable, we'll tell you before your consultation and explain your options.
Other costs. Medication, further tests, scans and follow-up consultations are charged separately, and you'll always be told the cost before anything is arranged. Treatment is only ever prescribed when your doctor considers it clinically appropriate; it is never guaranteed.
Booking and payment open securely in Practice Better, our clinical system. Not ready to book? Request a callback.
